In the Mystic SCUBA deep breathing exercises, a lot of attention is paid to exhalation. Exhalation is the first concern of respiration. If you can exhale properly you will be able to inhale properly. To do deep exhalations you use the lower part of your diaphragm (the curved abdominal muscle that separates the chest cavity from the abdominal cavity). During exhalation, your diaphragm simply relaxes and moves naturally to a comfortable position after being pushed downward during inhalation. Then the diaphragm gently contracts to force more air out. After doing a deep exhalation, deep inhalation is automatic. The upper part of your diaphragm naturally expands as you take air in. During inhalation, your diaphragm will drop, pushing your abdomen out as your lungs fill with air. Deep breathing conserves energy and relaxes your body. Most importantly, deep breathing is the best way to absorb oxygen and release toxins. All breathing practiced in Mystic SCUBA is deep breathing. |
